Kaiju Kollision!

So this is what all that painting was for, an art show with Josh at Super 7 in San Francisco. I will have a bunch of soft vinyl figures on display (close to 50 pieces) in all sizes, as well as an exclusive handpainted Gargamel figure. Here's the description from the post card: Super7 Store presents a Kaiju Kollision by two artists separated by the Pacific, featuring custom painted vinyl figures by Koji Harmon of Tokyo and paintings by Joshua Herbolsheimer of San Francisco. Monsters from the East collide with monsters from the East, living in the West. An exclusive Super7 x Gargamel toy/print set will be available during this show. The set will feature a standard size soft vinyl figure painted by Koji Harmon and a set of 4 prints drawn by Joshua Herbolsheimer. Stay tuned for more information...

Done For Now

After a full week of non-stop painting, I've decided to take a short break (Thursday). I got the bulk of my project done, but was able to get some nice vinyl figures today that I'd like to add to the lot. Maybe I'll start those on Friday. Then this weekend, I need to get to work on another big paint project...

A Little More

Put the final touches to a few pieces tonight. Hand painting teeth and eyes can take a long time. A few more details to fill and then I'm all done. Oh, then I should probably photograph them...

More Painting!

Finished a few more figures today. I have about 30 figures (standards and minis) done and about 10 more to be complete. My thumbnail is sore from opening paint jars, and all of my nails are stained with paint...

Painting!

Painted soft vinyl kaiju like mad today for a special project coming very soon. I will probably continue through the next 3 or 4 days. I've finished quite a bit but want to do some more. My deadline is soon. Stay tuned for more details...

Junk Hunting!

Today was Bwana's last day in Japan. We hung out with Mitsuwa and Koji (another Koji) in and around Ozaku and Fussa on the Ome Line. The area was full of used, recycled, thrift, and junk shops selling everything you can think of. Electronics, furniture, housewares, clothes, toys, more. Some stores were nice and organized, while others were completely crazy. I think we probably visited 10 shops, in addition to an Italian restaurant (for lunch), a huge home and garden center, and a Mr. Donut (for dinner). By evening, we were all tired out and done with shopping.

Bwana's Easter Egg Hunt

Easter came early in Tokyo this year. Bwana stayed a couple of nights at my house during the Killer Dragons From The West show, and upon leaving I found some hidden surprises: a Sponge Bob Easter Egg filled with candy and stickers, a chocolate bunny named Baby Binks, and an original painting. I'm super stoked on the painting because it features a Microman figure with skull head, plus he's saying "ohayo gozaimasu" (good morning). Yes!

Killer Dragons Invade Tokyo

Spent the entire day with the Killer Dragons Tim and Bwana and Gargamel Kiyoka and Chanmen. We started off in Odaiba at Big Site for the Tokyo Toy Festival. After spending a good couple of hours shopping for toys, everyone ended up with a large bag or two filled with goodies. Next was the Taro Okamoto Museum in Kawasaki City. The Taro Museum was a lot of fun, and in a great location surrounded by a small forest. Taro's paintings and sculptures were odd, colorful, and amazing. From there we went to Nakano Broadway for some more toy shopping. Bwana picked up a nice vintage green King Walder figure, and shared some super hot takoyaki. The night ended in Koenji with some beer, ramune, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba. A very long, but very fun-filled day. Good night.

Killer Dragons!

Killer Dragons From The West opened at about 2:30 yesterday to a decent crowd of fans and toy resellers. Tim and Bwana signed for a while, making a lot of people very happy, and making a bunch of new fans as well. The clear pink Mini Dragamel and Killer set, and Tim's Big Pollard figures sold pretty quickly. If you're interested, the show will continue until Tuesday, so you can still stop by and see their artwork, and maybe even pick up a toy, print, t-shirt, or original artwork.

Killer Dragons From The West!

Spent the evening hanging out and preparing for "Killer Dragons From The West" at Thrash Out. Should be a lot of fun. There will be some cool artwork on display, Tim and Bwana will be there to sign stuff, and of course, exclusive toys! Be sure to stop by tomorrow (Saturday) if you're in town. New House...

The new place is much bigger than the last, with lots of storage space and nice sized rooms as well. Now I just need to unpack...

The Move...

I moved on Friday. Took a good couple of hours for the movers to get everything packed and into the new house. I think I had more than they were expecting. I even had to leave a few things at the old place to pick up later...

Almost Done...

Did some more packing tonight, emptied out the showcases, and boxed up some more books and toys. Still lots more to do. The movers come today. Not sure if I will go to bed now and try and get up early, or just keep packing. I should probably get some rest...

More Packing...

I packed for a couple of hours tonight, mostly books and toys. Notice the cute boxes from the movers. Only one more day left, but still lots more to do. Fortunately, my new place is a short walk away. If I'm not able to pack everything by Friday, I can just leave it here and bring it over later...

Packing...

I am moving on Friday. So I've been packing every night for the past couple of days. I didn't realize I had so much stuff until I started boxing it all up. Today I mostly packed toys. Only two more days, but lots more to do...
